The web based administration works wonderfully but is there a way to work more efficiently when I have a large number of pictures to maintain? It appears quite painful to paginate through the photos.

What kind of operation are you going to do? In theory you can access the folder with images through FTP and do something with them (remove, modify, etc). After you finish, you need to reindex this folder using Media Gallery web interface. Sincerely yours, Andrew Simontsev from Aurigma Team

Offhand, I am basically looking at mass reorganisation of files such as changing the structure in which they are displayed, modifying the size and resolution for more efficiently web delivery. Based on the "theory", does it mean a server administrator can assist to create directories and copy files into them for reindexing, bypassing the Media Gallery web interface?

Media Gallery stores files in the file system and auxilary information about these files in database. It means that the server administrator can add, move, or delete files without web interface, but someone should "synchronize" the file structure and database by reindexing everything through web interface.
