# Converter.ThumbnailType Property HTML5/Flash Uploader ASP.NET

Gets or sets a value specifying the output image type.

## Syntax

public string ThumbnailType { get; set; }
```
 
### Property Value
 
Type: [System..String](http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/s1wwdcbf)
 
A string specifying the output image format, one of the following values:
 
|  Value |  Description |
| --- | --- |
 |  **`image/jpeg`** |  Always create a JPEG thumbnail. |
 |  **`image/png`** |  Always create a PNG thumbnail. |
 |  **`original`** |  Preserves the original image format if possible. If it is not possible (e.g. the input image is BMP or GIF), it will produce JPEG. |
 |  **`auto`** |  The output format is selected based on the [ThumbnailSizeLimit](https://www.aurigma.com/docs/us8/FH_P_Aurigma_ImageUploaderFlash_Converter_ThumbnailSizeLimit.htm.md) value - if PNG is small enough to fit in this limit, it will product PNG, otherwise it will create JPEG. |
 
Default value is **"image/jpeg"**.
 
## Remarks
  
This property makes sense only if the [Mode](https://www.aurigma.com/docs/us8/FH_P_Aurigma_ImageUploaderFlash_Converter_Mode.htm.md) property has `Thumbnail` value.
