# debug.showError(String) Method ActiveX/Java Uploader JavaScript

Shows an error message in accordance with the [mode](https://www.aurigma.com/docs/us8/JA_P_J_$au_debug_mode.htm.md) value if errors are allowed via the [level](https://www.aurigma.com/docs/us8/JA_P_J_$au_debug_level.htm.md) property.

## Syntax
 
```
$au.debug().showError(msg);
```
 
### Parameters
 
 - msg
     - Type: **String**
 
The message to show.

## Remarks
 
This method can be used to show a custom error message.
