# files.remove(Number) Method ActiveX/Java Uploader JavaScript

Removes the file at the specified index from the upload pane.

## Syntax
 
```
$au.uploader('uploaderID').files().remove(index);
```
 
### Parameters
 
 - index
     - Type: **Number**
 
The zero-based index of the file to remove.

## Remarks
 
If you want to remove all files or all selected files from the upload pane use the [uploadPane.removeAllFiles()](https://www.aurigma.com/docs/us8/JA_M_J_$au_uploadPane_removeAllFiles.htm.md) or [uploadPane.removeSelectedFiles()](https://www.aurigma.com/docs/us8/JA_M_J_$au_uploadPane_removeSelectedFiles.htm.md) method respectively.
