Supported browsers: ![Internet Explorer](https://www.aurigma.com/docs/us8/icons/ie8.png)![Firefox](https://www.aurigma.com/docs/us8/icons/firefox.png)![Google Chrome](https://www.aurigma.com/docs/us8/icons/chrome.png)![Safari](https://www.aurigma.com/docs/us8/icons/safari.png)

Starts the upload process.

## Syntax

```
$au.uploader('uploaderID').upload();
```

## Remarks

It works in the same way as if the **Upload** button was clicked.

Files are uploaded to the URL specified by the [actionUrl](https://www.aurigma.com/docs/us8/JA_P_J_$au_uploadSettings_actionUrl.htm.md) property. If it is necessary to upload not just files, but some additional data, you can use the [metadata](https://www.aurigma.com/docs/us8/JA_T_J_$au_metadata.htm.md) properties. When upload completes, redirection to the [redirectUrl](https://www.aurigma.com/docs/us8/JA_P_J_$au_uploadSettings_redirectUrl.htm.md) occurs.

**Note**
When ActiveX/Java Uploader uploads files, this method call is ignored (and the appropriate button is disabled). You should stop it first using the [cancelUpload()](https://www.aurigma.com/docs/us8/JA_M_J_$au_uploader_cancelUpload.htm.md) method.
